A 23-year-old man from Ava sustained minor injuries in a single-vehicle crash late Monday night. The accident occurred at approximately 11:05 p.m. on Missouri Route 5, six miles north of Ava in Douglas County.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the driver was traveling northbound in a 2003 Mercury Grand Marquis when the vehicle veered off the right side of the roadway. The car struck a guardrail before crashing into an embankment. Reports indicate the driver was not wearing a safety device at the time of the crash.
Emergency responders transported the driver by ambulance to Mercy Hospital in Springfield for treatment of minor injuries. The vehicle sustained total damage and was towed from the scene by Ed’s Towing at the request of county authorities.
