Dangerous levels of heat will be an active threat in the Ozarks both today and tomorrow.
This information comes from the latest information packet from the National Weather Service in Springfield. Specifically, a Heat Advisory will be in effect starting at noon today until 8pm tomorrow. It is reported that heat index values across the Ozarks will range from 100-110 degrees today, and a slightly cooler 100-105 degrees tomorrow.
The strongest areas of effect when it comes to the heat are in the western areas of our listening area, especially those in a rough square from the middle of Douglas and Ozark Counties, and stretching further west.
Those across most of our listening area should keep in mind that under conditions expected, someone working or exercising in direct sunlight is advised to balance 20 minutes of exertion with 40 minutes of break time in the shade in order to avoid damage due to heat.
Lastly, in addition to the high heat, there exist a possibility of marginally severe thunderstorms will be possible Tuesday and into Wednesday.
