Doniphan Man Fatally Injured in Vehicular Crash

Doniphan, MO. – A Doniphan man was fatally injured this past weekend in a two-vehicle accident between two trucks.

This accident took place on Missouri Highway 142 roughly two miles West of Doniphan. The crash appears to have been severe, with the report stating that Vehicle 1, a Ford Ranger, crossed the center of the roadway and struck Vehicle 2, a Chevy Silverado. Both vehicles were totaled.

The driver of the Ranger, Robert Collett, 78 of Doniphan, was not wearing a safety device and suffered fatal injuries.

The driver of the Silverado was Daniel Venable, 39 of Poplar Bluff. He and one passenger, Amanda Venable, 38 of Poplar Bluff, suffered serious injuries. Daniel was airlifted to Regional One in Memphis, TN., with Amanda being transported to Poplar Bluff Regional for treatment. Neither were wearing their safety device.

The investigator of this crash was Corporal C.E. Leach of the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Troop E. In assistance were Sergeant B.L. Riefle and MCIU Team 4 Member Sergeant J.M. Weadon.
