Drought Regions Expand in Missouri

Drought regions have lessened in Arkansas after some recent rains, and have visibily worsened in Missouri.

The latest information from the US Drought Monitor and the National Weather Service is in, and consistently show that a swathe of D3 extreme drought has expanded from the southwest edge of Missouri. This is in spite of any recent rains. The edge now lies in in a range spreading from Ozark County to Texas County, with small sections of northwestern Howell County now in the same D3 condition. D2 severe drought now pressed past that before it drops off to D1 moderate drought from Oregon County and further east.

In Arkansas, the state overall is faring worse than Missouri, but conditions have improved considerably for a section in the northwest side of the state, improving to even D0 abnormally dry conditions instead of full-on drought. However, most of the listening area still lies in D2 severe drought , with a small section of D3 extreme drought mostly in Fulton County.

With rain expected next week, conditions will likely improve somewhat, but it is not expected to majorly impact the state of the drought.
