Eastern Douglas County Volunteer Fire Department Receives Radio Upgrade

Drury, MO. – The Eastern Douglas County Volunteer Fire Department announced last Thursday that their radio systems are seeing a much-needed upgrade through a grant that was received.

The grant was received from BNSF Railway as a part of their BNSF Foundation grant program, as well as a matching program from the Missouri Department of Conversation. The radios that have been purchased are Kenwood NX-1700H mobile radios, increasing communication efficiency across the board in times where every moment counts.

This upgrade has been six years in the making but was only just now made possible. Market prices put each radio unit at roughly 5 to 6 hundred dollars. This makes the units difficult to purchase, especially as many volunteer or charity agencies within the area struggle to find the economic power required for new equipment.

The Eastern Douglas County Volunteer Fire Department added that they will be looking forward to better communication through these devices.
