Howell County Sheriff’s Department Sergeant Paul Bradshaw and his son, West Plains Police Department (WPPD) officer and K-9 handler Paul Bradshaw Jr. were both injured in separate incidents Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2020. Both Bradshaw’s are doing well and are expected to make a full recovery from their injuries.
Bradshaw Sr. went to a residence in West Plains in an attempt to serve a male subject with a full order of protection and learned the male subject had a warrant. Bradshaw Sr. began to place the subject under arrest. The male resisted arrest and Sargent Bradshaw Sr. suffered a broken arm in the scuffle. Bradshaw was able to get on his radio to dispatch and call for assistance. Assistance arrived, with not only Howell County Deputies and investigators but also WPPD officers.
Sargent Bradshaw’s incident resulted in the male subject being issued a warrant for Assault in the First degree and resisting arrest, his bond was set at $50,000 cash or corporate surety.
Just seven hours later, Bradshaw Jr., was met with a subject resisting arrest as well. The West Plains Police Department posted this statement in regards to Officer Paul Bradshaw Jr’s incident.
“West Plains Police Department K-9 Officer Paul Bradshaw Jr. was patrolling the area of Current Inc. located on US Highway 63 in West Plains, when he spotted a male laying underneath a Current Inc. fleet vehicle. Officer Bradshaw observed the male subject holding a saw in his hand and cutting the catalytic convertor off the vehicle. When Officer Bradshaw contacted the male, he fled on foot Northbound from the business. A short foot pursuit ensued, and the suspect was caught by Officer Bradshaw, however the suspect continued to resist arrest. Officer Bradshaw managed to wrestle the male to the ground and OC (pepper spray) was deployed to subdue the suspect and affect the arrest. During the incident Officer Bradshaw sustained minor injuries to his face and knee. The male was transported to the West Plains Jail and placed on a 24-hour hold pending formal charges for Property Damage 1st degree and Resisting Arrest. A warrant was later issued for the suspect in the amount of $25,000.”
The Howell County Sheriff’s Office stated in a press release they, “would like to thank all personnel, both county and city who responded.”
