Field Fire and Assault Incident Leads to Arrest in Eminence, MO

A fire and assault incident on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, led to the arrest of a suspect in Shannon County. Authorities responded to reports of a spreading field fire at 13991 Hwy D, where it was determined that multiple fires had been set and left unattended.

At approximately 13:26, Captain McCoy arrived at the scene and found that the fire, allegedly started by Donald Conway, had spread to a neighboring property. During the incident, Conway reportedly approached a special victim in an aggressive manner while wielding a machete and making threats.

Emergency responders battled the blaze, but one firefighter suffered from heat exhaustion and smoke inhalation. The firefighter was unable to evacuate safely and was subsequently transported by air ambulance to a higher-level care hospital for treatment.

Captain McCoy and Captain Brumble took Conway into custody at the scene. Investigators report that he was responsible for setting four separate fires. Conway has been charged with second-degree assault, a felony, and is currently held at the Shannon County Jail on a $10,000 cash-only bond. He is also subject to alcohol monitoring via an ankle bracelet. Authorities have indicated that additional charges may be forthcoming as the investigation continues.
