Thayer, MO. – Former Thayer Bobcat, Jordan Shultz (class of 2011), will race in the 128th Boston Marathon on Monday, April 15, 2024.
Jordan was a Thayer Bobcat Cross-Country standout runner throughout his high school career. Shultz then graduated and got his degree in journalism at the University of Missouri. He wrote various automotive magazines before becoming a certified personal trainer. He started running again in the summer of 2020 continuously working to better his running times and his long-distance running abilities. Shultz signed up for the 2020 and 2021 BMW Dallas Marathon, his first long-distance race since high school, unfortunately not being able to race in either. He got to race in the 2022 BMW Dallas Marathon and got 19th out of 2,470 runners, with a time of 2:53:19 and a 6:37 per mile average. In an interview with the author of the Thayer Bobcats Sports Page Jordan Shultz stated, ” I never imagined taking it further beyond that. But that was only the beginning. The road to Boston has been anything but easy, but so undoubtedly worth it. Now in less than a week, I’ll be competing among many of the best in the world in a field of nearly 30,000 runners. Glory to God for bringing me this far, now let’s take it across the finish line.”
The Boston Marathon is the world’s oldest annual marathon that ranks as one of the world’s most prestigious road racing events. The Boston Marathon has around 30,000 participants each year and 500,000 spectators from all around the world.
