Four earthquakes reported near Bull Shoals Lake on Sunday, Seven in 2024

Seven earthquakes have shook the area near Bull Shoals Lake in Arkansas since the start of 2024, with four occurring within hours of each other on Sunday morning. These four earthquakes were located southeast of Peel, Arkansas, just over six miles south of the Missouri-Arkansas state line.

According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the strongest of the quakes was a 2.4 magnitude quake at 3:07 a.m. on January 7, 2024. The subsequent quakes were a 2.3 magnitude quake at 4:12 a.m., a 2.2 magnitude quake at 6:21 a.m., and a 1.7 magnitude quake at 11:16 a.m. If you didn’t feel these quakes, you’re not alone. Most people do not feel an earthquake with a magnitude under 3.

Seven earthquakes have shook this area near Bull Shoals Lake since the start of the year. The first two occurred on Jan. 4 and the third on Jan. 5. The strongest of these quakes was a 2.5 magnitude quake at 3:45 p.m. on the 4th.
