The South Central Solid Waste Management District, in partnership with the City of West Plains, is hosting a free electronics waste collection event on April 12, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. The event will take place at the West Plains Materials Recycling Facility (Transfer Station), located at 1853 Old Airport Road.
Residents of Douglas, Howell, Oregon, Ozark, Shannon, Texas, and Wright counties are encouraged to participate in this opportunity to safely and securely recycle electronic waste at no charge.
Accepted Items for Recycling
If an item ran with a cord or battery, it will generally be accepted, except for certain restricted items. Examples of acceptable items include:
- Computers & Monitors
- Cables & Wires
- Televisions & VCR/DVD Players
- Most Appliances
- Stereo & Office Equipment
- Cell Phones
The event will operate on a first-come, first-served basis until the transport truck is full. Data destruction and secure recycling will be provided by the Computer Recycling Center, which is NAID AAA Certified.
This event is funded by the Missouri Department of Natural Resources and aims to promote responsible e-waste disposal, reducing environmental impact while ensuring electronics are recycled properly.
