Governor Sanders Submits Additional Disaster Declaration Request

Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders submitted an additional Major Disaster Declaration request to President Donald J. Trump, seeking Public Assistance for the communities severely impacted by the devastating storms and tornadoes that struck the state on March 14, 2025. The violent weather event caused widespread destruction, including catastrophic damage to infrastructure, massive debris accumulation, and the destruction of hundreds of homes across multiple counties in the state.

Governor Sanders emphasized the critical need for federal aid to assist local governments in the recovery process. In her official request, she outlined the substantial damage sustained by various communities, making it clear that without federal help, local officials would struggle to cover the costs of necessary cleanup and repair efforts.

Governor Sanders’ request for Public Assistance specifically includes Clay, Greene, Independence, Izard, Jackson, Lawrence, Nevada, Randolph, Sharp, Stone, and Woodruff. The Major Disaster Declaration would enable these affected counties to access critical federal resources, helping local governments manage the financial burden of rebuilding their communities. Public Assistance would provide essential funds for debris cleanup, infrastructure repairs, and other necessary recovery operations.
