Grizzly Update: Grizzly Stampede Brings College Rodeo to West Plains This Week

College rodeo is coming to West Plains this week as Missouri State University-West Plains prepares to host the Hirsch Feed Grizzly Stampede College Rodeo at the Heart of the Ozarks Fairgrounds.

The three-night event runs Thursday, October 8 through Saturday, October 10, with competition beginning at 7 p.m. each night.

The Grizzly Stampede marks the first time the Missouri State-West Plains Grizzly Rodeo program has hosted a college rodeo on its home turf. The event is expected to bring more than 400 contestants from 18 colleges across 11 states to West Plains.

Fans will see competitors take part in a full slate of rodeo events, including bareback riding, barrel racing, breakaway roping, bull riding, goat tying, saddle bronc riding, steer wrestling, team roping and tie-down roping.

The Missouri State-West Plains rodeo program competes as a member of the Ozark Region of the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association.

Admission is $15 per person, per night, with children ages 12 and younger admitted free when accompanied by a paying adult. Advance tickets are available through the Drago College Store inside Hass-Darr Hall in West Plains.

The rodeo is presented by Explore West Plains and sponsored by Hirsch Feed.
