West Plains, MO. – The Howell County Sheriff’s Office has recently released their quarterly jail conditions report, which is available to the public.

According to the report, the Howell County Adult Detention Center is frequently running at over capacity and the current confines of the buildout are struggling to meet demand.
It is in the recommendations summary from Sheriff Brent Campbell, he reports that it is advisable that many facets of the facility will need to be replaced or fixed to maintain satisfactory levels of service. In addition, education and communication with judicial and mental health resources is suggested to handle inmate population with mental challenges, to encourage keeping individuals out of the prison system.
