Eighth-grade students from Howell Valley School joined officials from Missouri State University–West Plains (MSU-WP) on Thursday, April 24, to celebrate Arbor Day with a special tree-planting ceremony on campus.
Together, the group planted a dogwood tree on the north side of Lybyer Hall, just off Cass Avenue. The tree, a symbol of growth and environmental stewardship, was purchased from West Plains Greenhouse and Nursery.
As part of the celebration, 50 silver maple tree seedlings—provided by the Missouri Department of Conservation—were handed out to students and attendees, encouraging further appreciation for trees and conservation efforts in the community.
University officials thanked the Howell Valley students for their participation and enthusiasm in marking this important annual event.
