The Missouri State University–West Plains (MSU-WP) Athletics and Community Engagement Department will offer two lifeguard training courses this May at the West Plains Civic Center, providing a pathway for individuals interested in working at local aquatic facilities.
The sessions, scheduled for May 15–16 and May 17–18, are part of the Jeff Ellis and Associates International Lifeguard Training Program (ILTP). Successful completion of the course will qualify participants for licensing required to work at the West Plains Civic Center indoor pool or the City of West Plains’ outdoor aquatic center.
To earn certification, candidates must be at least 15 years old by the training date, pass a written exam with a score of 80% or higher, and complete both technical performance and simulation practical exams. Each session is limited to the first 12 students to register. The cost is $40.
University officials encourage area residents interested in part-time summer work to take advantage of this opportunity. For more information or to register, call 417-255-7966.
