Intoxicated Salem man badly injured in car crash near Centerville

Centerville, MO. – A Salem, Missouri man was injured in a DWI crash near Centerville early on Saturday. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol report, the crash occurred on Missouri 21, six miles south of Centerville at 12:19 a.m. on Jan. 27th.

A northbound GMC Sierra driven by Colbey Whitehead, age 30 of Salem, failed to negotiate a curve, running off the left side of the roadway, struck an embankment and overturned. Whitehead had not been wearing a safety device and suffered serious injuries. He was taken to Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center for treatment.

Troopers charged Whitehead for driving while intoxicated, careless and imprudent driving involving an accident, failure to drive on the right half of the roadway, no insurance, no seatbelt, and failure to display valid plates and released him for medical treatment.
