Izard County, AR – In an exciting step forward for student athletics and extracurricular offerings, the Izard County School District has officially announced the addition of soccer as a new sport starting with the 2025-2026 school year.
This marks the first time in the district’s history that soccer will be offered as part of its athletic programming. The move comes in response to growing interest from students and families, and aims to give students of all ages a chance to engage in a globally popular sport while building teamwork, fitness, and school spirit.
According to the district, the soccer rollout will be multi-tiered and inclusive of all grade levels. As part of the launch:

Soccer activities will be integrated into summer academic camps scheduled for June and July 2025.

Skills and drills camps will be held in the fall for elementary and middle school students, giving younger athletes a chance to learn the fundamentals of the game in a fun and supportive environment.

Elementary and middle school students will compete in spring games, offering them early game-time experience.

Junior and senior high school students will have the opportunity to compete in junior varsity games in the spring of 2026, pending student interest and participation.
Coach Carr Hill will oversee the soccer program and help guide its development across all levels. With his leadership, the district hopes to establish a strong foundation for soccer that can grow with the students.
