Man Arrested After Injecting Fentynal In Wife’s IV While She Was In The Hospital

Salem, AR. – A probable cause affidavit was recently released involving the arrest of a man after he tried to kill his wife by injecting her with Fentynal on June 13, 2024.

According to this statement, 54-year-old James Holloway’s wife was a patient at the Fulton County Hospital when the incident occurred. Nurses reported that she was alert and coherent after having been disoriented after she came to the hospital the day before. As of this point she had not had any visitors to her room. At around 9:30 a.m., James Holloway went to his wife’s room, stayed a few minutes, and then went to the lobby. Personnel stated that within seconds his wife became unresponsive, gurgling, and foaming at the mouth.

A rapid response was taken and a fast treatment of Narcan saved her. They administered a test that showed she had Fentynal in her system. During the situation, Holloway yelled, saying he had only given her ibuprofen. Hours later his wife told nurses that Holloway had given her a “cathy” in her IV. Holloway was then transported off and banned from the hospital premises. He came back the next day and tried to get into his wife’s room again.

James Holloway was arrested and charged with introducing a controlled substance into another’s body. He is being held in the Fulton County Jail with a bond of $50,000.
