Workers, business owners, and advocates across Missouri gathered today in a series of statewide mobilization events organized by Missouri Jobs with Justice (MO JwJ) and the Missouri Workers Center, as part of the Protect Our Paid Sick (POPS) campaign. Rallies were held in St. Louis, Kansas City, Springfield, and Columbia to celebrate the state’s new paid sick leave law and to raise awareness of Proposition A, passed by voters last November.
Proposition A, which was approved by nearly 58% of Missouri voters, not only raises the state’s minimum wage but also ensures that workers now have access to earned paid sick time off—a milestone that supporters say marks a significant step forward for worker rights and public health.
“Missourians made their voices clear at the ballot box,” said a Missouri Jobs with Justice spokesperson. “Now it’s time to make sure every worker knows about these hard-earned protections and that every employer is prepared to follow the law.”
Under the new requirements, employers must provide written notice of paid sick leave rights to their employees no later than Tuesday, April 15, 2025. Advocates are urging businesses to act swiftly to comply and to embrace the benefits of supporting a healthier, more secure workforce.
