Vanzant, MO. – A mother and son are facing criminal charges following an investigation where a juvenile was struck and abused on July 9th.
This investigation began when a 17-year-old juvenile contacted the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office to report he’d been struck by his father, Richard Litchfield. This happened when the victim and his mother travelled to the residence where Richard and his mother, Laurine Litchfield, resided to mow the lawn. Richard was found at the residence vomiting on the lawn and exhibiting extreme paranoia. Richard then took the phone of the juvenile, dragged them to a car by his hair, and struck them.
The juvenile was able to escape the car via the window and left with his mother. Deputy Aaron Box was dispatched to the residence following these events to investigate. It was found that Laurine Litchfield was wanted for an outstanding warrant, and after the deployment of K9 York, Richard was found hiding nearby. Both have been arrested and both drugs and drug paraphernalia were found inside the home.
Richard Litchfield is facing criminal charges including 2nd Degree Domestic Assault, 2nd Degree Kidnapping, 1st Degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child Creating Substantial Risk, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Resisting Arrest for a Felony, and Unlawful Possession of a Weapon.
