Highway 178 Over Bull Shoals Dam to Close in Late July

Mountain Home, AR. – A major route for many people on the Arkansas side of our listening area will be blocked beginning July 31st at 6:30am.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers announced on July 12th that there will be a full road closure for Highway 178 going across Bull Shoals Dam. This closure will extend until August 2nd, and is being done to deploy and remove equipment used to perform maintenance on the dam.

This closure has been coordinated with all local emergency and law enforcement agencies. It is important to plan an alternate route in the coming days if you use this roadway regularly. A detour path suggested for those attempting to reach opposite sides of the dam is to use Highway 5 and Highway 126 through Midway and Gassville, and Highway 62-412 through Flippin.
