West Plains, MO. – An elderly motorcycle rider is in serious condition after a Sunday afternoon crash in Shannon County. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol reports, the accident occurred on Highway 106, ten miles west of Ellington at 3:15 p.m.

An eastbound 2004 Harley Davidson driven by Ruth Dierkes, age 71 of Lesterville, failed to negotiate a curve, running off the right side of the roadway and overturned, throwing Dierkes from the bike.
Dierkes suffered serious injuries in the crash and was air lifted to Mercy Hospital in Springfield for treatment. She had been wearing a helmet.
