MSU-West Plains to Receive 3 Million Dollars as Part of 2022 U.S. Congress Budget Omnibus

West Plains, MO. – As part of a national federal budget plan for the 2022 year, Missouri State University – West Plains, will be receiving over 3 million dollars. This funding was secured in no small part by Senator Roy Blunts efforts.

As part of the budgeting for this money, $525,000 will be put toward equipment and technology upgrades for the science labs in Melton Hall. The remaining 2.5 Million will be put toward creating a hospital simulation lab in Looney Hall, which will require a renovation of the first floor.

The Associate Dean of Nursing and Health, Amy Ackerson, was quoted as saying: “When the one-floor renovation at Looney Hall is complete, the hospital simulation lab will provide realistic spaces for training students to treat patients needing care in a variety of settings, including obstetrics, pediatrics, intensive care, emergency room and a doctor’s office”.
