MSU-WP to Hold “Community Messiah Sing Event” Nov. 6th

West Plains, MO. – Officials at Missouri State University-West Plains (MSU-WP) and with the West Plains Council on the Arts (WPCA) invite everyone to attend the Community Messiah Sing at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 6, at the West Plains Civic Center, 110 St. Louis St., in West Plains.

Directed by Larry Dame, the performance promises to be a wonderful start to the holiday season, organizers said.

Admission is free with open seating; no reservations are required. Non-singers are welcome to come and enjoy the music, organizers said.

Lead vocalists include soprano Sylvia Hershenson, alto Brianna Adams Link, tenor Jordan Hall and bass Miles McWilliams. Accompanist will be Becky Quimby.

The Christmas portion of Handel’s “Messiah,” using the G. Schirmer score, will be performed. Audience members are encouraged to sing along with the vocalists to the following favorite “Messiah” choruses:

            • And the Glory of the Lord

            • And He Shall Purify

            • O Thou that Tellest Good Tidings to Zion

            • For Unto Us a Child is Born

            • Glory to God

            • Hallelujah!
