Nonprofits in Sharp County Invited to Apply for Giving Tree Grants

Sharp County, AR. – Nonprofit organizations in Sharp County have a new opportunity to secure funding for vital community projects through the Giving Tree Grants program. Starting January 10, eligible nonprofits can visit arcf.org/givingtree to apply online for grants offered by the Sharp County Community Foundation, an affiliate of the Arkansas Community Foundation. The deadline for submissions is February 15.

Since its establishment in 2007, the Sharp County Community Foundation has awarded $440,000 in grants to local initiatives. “Our goal is to strengthen our community by supporting important causes like education, health, and community development,” said Dan Milligan, Executive Director of Sharp County Community Foundation.

Grants of $2,500 will be awarded, with priority given to projects focusing on early childhood literacy, food security, and reducing childhood obesity through physical activity. While the foundation prioritizes organizations based in Sharp County, it will also consider applications from groups outside the county if their programs directly benefit Sharp County residents.

Eligible applicants include IRS 501(c)(3) public charities, public schools, and government agencies within Sharp County. Grants will not be made to individuals. Applications will be evaluated by a local grantmaking committee to ensure funds are allocated to impactful projects.

“Funding for the Giving Tree program comes from hundreds of Arkansas donors who support the work of the Community Foundation,” said Heather Larkin, President and CEO of Arkansas Community Foundation. “Through these local grants, our state’s nonprofit organizations find support as they implement great ideas to improve their communities.”

Nonprofits interested in applying can review submission guidelines and criteria at arcf.org/givingtree. Additionally, organizations are encouraged to follow Sharp County Community Foundation on Facebook for updates and opportunities.

The Arkansas Community Foundation operates a statewide network of 29 affiliates, including Sharp County Community Foundation, to foster stronger communities through strategic philanthropy. By focusing on local needs, the foundation aims to create thriving communities where future generations will want to live and raise their families.
