Willow Springs, MO. – The Willow Springs Police Department and officials with the City want to remind the public that during this weekends Bear City Fall Festival, that pets will not be allowed at the event.
The Willow Springs Police Department with the Willow Springs MO Animal Control will be partnering to keep everyone safe this weekend, and advising everyone to keep their pets at home. Under City Ordinance 205.335, “Animals are prohibited at city sponsored or sanctioned Public Gatherings. It shall be unlawful for any person to permit any animal to be at or upon any city sponsored or sanctioned public gathering.”
Under RSMo § 209.204.2, a person may not knowingly misrepresent a dog as a service dog for the purpose of receiving ADA service-dog accommodations. The statute specifically includes:
Knowingly falsely representing that the dog is a service dog.
Creating or providing false service-dog documentation.
Putting a service-dog-type vest, harness, collar, or sign on a dog that isn’t a service dog.
Representing that the dog is a service dog when it hasn’t been trained to perform disability-related tasks or work.
A first violation is a Class C misdemeanor, with civil liability for actual damages; a second or subsequent violation is a Class B misdemeanor.
