One Arkansas man killed, another injured in Saturday morning crash near Wasola

Gainesville, MO. – A man from Lakeview, Arkansas was killed in a two-vehicle crash on Saturday morning in Ozark County. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol report, the crash occurred at 3 a.m. on Highway 5, five miles south of Wasola on Dec. 30, 2023.

A southbound Chevy Cruze driven by Joseph Kish, age 42 of Lakeview, crossed the center line and struck an oncoming Lincoln MKZ driven by Justin Ivey, age 44 of Mountain Home, Arkansas, totaling both vehicles.

Kish had not been wearing a seatbelt and was killed in the crash. Ivey suffered moderate injuries and was transported by Ozark County Ambulance to Baxter Regional Medical Center for treatment.

This marked the 42nd fatality for MSHP Troop G in 2023, compared to 32 at the same time in 2022.

The crash was investigated by Sgt. L. S. Elliot of MSHP Troop G with the assistance of the Gainesville Fire Department, Ozark County Sheriff’s Office, and Crash Team Member Cpl. T.L. Wright.
