Ozark County Teen Fatally Injured in Tuesday Evening Crash

Gainesville, MO. — A female teen from Tecumseh was fatally injured last night after failing to stop at a stop sign.
 

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports that the crash occurred on US Highway 5, approximately 10 miles northwest of Gainesville. The 16-year-old driver was behind the wheel of a Pontiac 5 when she failed to stop at a stop sign and entered the path of a Ford F-150 at around 7:10 p.m. The truck was driven by a 44-year-old male resident of Gainesville. Both vehicles were totaled as a result of the collision.

The man in the Ford sustained only minor injuries, but the juvenile driving the Pontiac was fatally injured and was pronounced deceased by Ozark County Coroner Gene Britt at 8:30 p.m.

The Highway Patrol also noted that this marks their 24th fatality of 2024, down from 34 at this time last year.
