Potential Leptospirosis Infection Confirmed False by Texas County Health Department

Success, MO. – Officials with Texas County have had their hands full in recent days, investigating the possibility of Leptospirosis in the area.

Leptospirosis is caused by a bacteria typically spread through animal urine containing the leptospira bacteria.

After conversating with Angel Wells, Administrator with the Texas County Health Department, it has been determined that there is curently no active case of Leptospirosis, and that there is no threat to the water supply, as all tests have come back negative.

While this leaves the question as to the origin of the rumor, there appears to be no health or safety issue for the people of Texas County.
