Raymondville Man Arrested after Fleeing from Deputies in Texas County

A Raymondville man is facing charges after allegedly fleeing from officers during a domestic‑violence investigation, according to a probable cause statement filed by the Houston Police Department.

Officer Jeremy Wink wrote that he contacted Lonnie R. Royal on June 9 regarding a domestic dispute earlier in the day. Royal arrived at Savor’s Bar and Grill driving a white Chevy, where deputies stopped him. Wink noted in the report that Royal’s driver’s license had been expired since 2023 and that Royal had previously said “he was not going back to jail” and had made threats toward officers.

When officers ordered him to exit the vehicle, Royal refused. As Sergeant Thompson opened the door, Royal “sped away at a high rate of speed,” prompting deputies to deploy stop sticks, which deflated his rear tire.

Deputies pursued Royal north on Thomasville Road, then south on Highway 17, before he turned onto Ridge Road, where he was taken into custody without further incident.

Royal is charged with resisting arrest by fleeing—creating a substantial risk of serious injury—and operating a vehicle without a valid license.
