Republic man remanded to custody in Douglas County domestic assault case

AVA, Mo. — Adam Besson, 41, of Republic, was remanded to custody May 20 after appearing in Douglas County court.

Besson was indicted by a Douglas County grand jury Jan. 9 for third degree domestic assault. The original offense occurred in the Vanzant area of Douglas County.

According to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, Besson was gone when Deputies Wilson and Pueppke arrived at the scene. Besson was later located and arrested on the indictment Feb. 19.

On March 3, Besson was released to a sober living facility. Authorities said he left the facility and did not comply with court orders, resulting in his May 20 arrest.

Besson remains incarcerated in the Douglas County Jail.

All charges are allegations, and defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
