The West Plains School District Board of Education has appointed Ryan Smith as the West Plains High School Principal for the 2023 – 2024 school year. The decision follows the resignation of Mr. Lucas Brown. Mr. Brown is the incoming Glenwood Superintendent for the 2023 – 2024 school year.
Mr. Smith has served as a West Plain High School Assistant Principal since 2021. Before joining the high school team, he served as a West Plains Elementary Assistant Principal, a district administrative intern, and a P.E. and Social Studies teacher.
“Mr. Smith is a great educator with many years of classroom and leadership experience. His high level of professionalism, morals, and work ethic are things I value in him. The appointment will provide a smooth transition and stability for our schools. He will greatly assist the West Plains High School students and staff. Our interview team recommended him, and the board approved his contract,” said Dr. Wesley Davis.
Mr. Smith is earning a Specialists of Superintendence from Arkansas State University. He holds a Master of Education Leadership from Arkansas State University. His Bachelor’s degree is from Drury University.
Mr. Smith will begin his duties as the West Plains High School Principal on July 1, 2023.
