A Salem man was seriously injured in an early‑morning crash in Shannon County. The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports the wreck happened at 12:30 a.m. Sunday on County Road 427, about four miles southeast of Summersville.
Troopers say 31‑year‑old Samuel McDaniel was driving a 2008 Kia Sedona northbound when the vehicle ran off the roadway and struck a tree.

McDaniel suffered moderate injuries and was airlifted by Mercy Life Line to Mercy Hospital in Springfield for treatment. According to the Patrol, McDaniel was also arrested following the crash for misdemeanor driving while intoxicated and failure to drive on the right half of the roadway resulting in an accident. He was released to Mercy EMS for medical care.
