Press release from Baxter County Sheriff’s Office:
A sex offender who is registered with the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office was arrested today on a firearms charge.
This morning, 06/15/2026, Sheriff’s Deputy Michael Gorbet and Officers with the Arkansas Division of Community Correction conducted a sex offender compliance visit at the home address of HANS HESS on Hopewell Hollow Road in the Jordan area.
During this compliance check, officers located a .22 cal semi-automatic rifle in the bedroom. In the living room, officers found a .22 cal handgun with a loaded magazine containing seven rounds.
HANS HESS was previously convicted of violent felonies and served time in the Arkansas Division of Correction. He was arrested and taken into custody and then transported to the Baxter County Detention Center.
HANS HESS was booked and incarcerated on a charge of:
Possession of Firearms by Certain Persons (convicted felon) – Class B Felony
He is being held in lieu of $25,000 bond, and he will appear before the Baxter County Circuit Court to answer on June 22nd.
