Tecumseh, MO. – A man from Tecumseh has been arrested after an event where he shot at adults and children with a handgun, and shot one of them in the head.
This event happened on August 30th, with law enforcement being dispatched on information of a domestic disturbance. While on the call, 10 shots were heard by dispatchers, and one of the victims stated a family member had been shot in the head.
According to the Ozark County Sheriff’s Office, suspect Samuel Deatherage Jr. was disarmed and held by family members until law enforcement could arrive. First-aid was performed on the victim with the gunshot wound, who was transported to an area hospital for treatment.
Investigation revealed the suspect was intoxicated and gotten into an argument before brandishing a handgun, chasing 4 adults and 3 children into the backyard, and shooting at them 10-15 times.
Deatherage was arrested and is facing charges that include Felony 1st Degree Assault, Felony Armed Criminal Action, Felony Discharge of a Firearm at or from a Motor Vehicle, and 3 counts of Felony 1st Degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child.
