The Baxter County Sheriff’s Office Awarded Equipment Grant from the Arkansas Opioid Recovery Partnership

The Baxter County Sheriff’s Office was recently awarded an equipment grant from the Arkansas Opioid Recovery Partnership.

This grant provided the Sheriff’s Office with a TruNarc Handheld Narcotics Analyzer.  This piece of equipment tests for almost 500 substances, including narcotics, stimulants, depressants, hallucinogens, and analgesics.  Use of the device requires no direct contact with most substances.  This allows for enhanced officer safety when handling potentially deadly substances.  The device scans directly through plastic or glass for most drug test samples to minimize contamination, reduce exposure, and preserve evidence.  The device delivers clear real-time results for presumptive evidence.  The TruNarc Analyzer provides automated, temper-proof records with scan results, including time and date stamps to help expedite prosecutions in criminal cases.

Sheriff’s Investigators recently attended training on the use of the device and are excited with the anticipated benefits the TruNarc Analyzer provides for law enforcement.  The value of the equipment grant was approximately $30,000.

The Arkansas Opioid Recovery Partnership is an initiative of the Association of Arkansas Counties and the Arkansas Municipal League.  It represents a network of organizations committed to providing support for Arkansans in recovery, neighbors suffering from substance-misuse disorder, and families who have experienced loss due to the opioid epidemic.  When Arkansas counties and cities band together behind a cause, change happens.
