The Southern Ozarks Community Orchestra Concert in Willow Springs

Southern Missouri – On March 23, 2024, at 7 pm, the Southern Ozarks Community Orchestra will be in concert at the historic Star Theater in Willow Springs.

The program played by the Southern Ozarks Community Orchestra is called ” A Musical Buffet.” During the programs, you will hear music like Cumberland CrossIrish Suite by Leroy Anderson, Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring by Bach, Kin Klein Nachtnusik by Mozart, James Bond Medley, Pirates of the Caribbean, Forrest Gump Suite, The Empire Strikes Back Medley, Capriccio Espagno, and Moon River by Mercer. All tunes will be played by a variety of instruments such as violin, viola, cello, string bass, flute, oboe, clarinet, piccolo, trombone, tuba, trumpet, piano, and percussion.

The orchestra is made up of a wide range of people of all ages from Houston, West Plains, Cabool, Willow Springs, Summerville, Ava, Eminence, and Mountain View. The conductor is Jodie Forbes, a retired elementary music teacher who taught in various public schools for 30 years. Some members include Sam Van Dielen, band director of Houston School; Zane Johnson, band director at Mountain View; Michael Charlton, music teacher at Summerville; and Trevor Turner, the band director at Willow Springs. 

The tickets for the concert will be purchased on the day of at the front door for $10 each and children under 5 get in free. It is being sponsored by the Willow Springs Art Council. You can find out more about the event by visiting, https://www.willowspringsartscouncil.org.
