Students at Missouri State University-West Plains can expect increases in tuition and fees for the 2025-2026 academic year following preliminary approval by the Missouri State University Board of Governors Executive Committee on April 16. Final approval is expected in May.
For in-state students, tuition will rise by $8 to $163 per credit hour, a 5% increase. Out-of-state students will pay $326 per credit hour, up $16 from last year. Chancellor Dennis Lancaster said the adjustment is necessary to maintain the university’s quality of education and support services amid rising operational costs.
To enhance transparency, MSU-WP will implement tiered tuition rates in place of separate course fees. According to Dr. Michael Orf, vice chancellor for academic affairs, this change will help students better anticipate total tuition costs for each semester.
Additional approved increases include:
- Online course fees: from $185 to $193 per credit hour
- Common Fee: from $42 to $55 per credit hour
- Nursing classes (in-person): from $205 to $263 per credit hour (MO residents); $410 to $526 (out-of-state)
- Nursing classes (online): $293 per credit hour (MO); $586 (out-of-state)
Housing costs will also rise. Students living in the Grizzly Lofts during the fall and spring semesters will pay $7,950, an 11% increase, which includes a 19-meal-per-week dining plan. Summer housing will cost $2,300 with a 10-meal-per-week plan. High school students participating in MSU-WP’s dual credit and dual enrollment programs will see modest fee increases: dual credit fees will rise from $70 to $75 per credit hour, and dual enrollment from $88 to $100.
