Goodhope, MO. – Multiple emergency responders in Douglas County were called into action to rescue two adults and an infant.
After two hours of operation time and efforts from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, the Department of Conservation, volunteer firefighters, and even civilians, the three were safely rescued on the evening of Friday, April 26th.
According to the authorities, this incident happened when the driver tried to drive through a low water crossing at Beaver Creek on State Highway PP. At one point, the van was completely underwater, and the three were on top of the vehicle waiting for rescue after the van traveled roughly 200 yards down the creek.
Sheriff Chris Degase spoke to us about the event, and urges the public to stay weather aware, and not to cross any low water crossing without full certainty of their safety in crossing.
Remember, it only takes 6 inches of running water to completely sweep a vehicle off the road.
