Two Men Arrested For Possession Of A Firearm And Controlled Substances

Ava, MO. – On May 23, 2024, two men were arrested for the possession of controlled substances. 

Two Douglas County Sheriff’s Department Officers were dispatched to the Super 8 Hotel in Ava after getting a call about an unknown male with a weapon. Upon arrival at the site, the officers spoke with the caller, who said that male gave her a weapon while stating, “I have three felonies. Can you hold this gun?”

While they were talking to the caller, a white male, identified as Tyler Barton, walked through the door and the caller indicated that he was the man who gave her the gun. When an officer made contact with Barton, he admitted to being under the influence of a controlled substance, having a firearm, being a convicted felon, and having a syringe for injecting narcotics in his pocket. Barton was detained while they went to search his room. There they found William Roffmann, who they also detained while they released K9 Odin to search the room for any controlled substances. Upon indication from K9 Odin, they found a large amount of a crystalline substance weighing 10 grams that field tested positive for methamphetamine, several small bags, a digital scale, and a black bag with several different types of burglary tools. 

Barton was charged with delivery of a controlled substance methamphetamine, possession of a controlled substance methamphetamine, unlawful possession of a Firearm, and possession of burglary tools. His bond was set for $50,000 cash only.

Roffman was charged with delivery of a controlled substance methamphetamine and possession of a controlled substance methamphetamine. His bond was set at $25,000 cash only.
