Missouri – On April 30, 2024, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported two separate crashes resulting in serious injuries.
Crash number one occurred at 10:35 a.m. on Highway MM, 5 miles north of Mountain Grove. E J Shelley, 84 of Cabool, was traveling northbound when he struck the back of a stationary vehicle, totaling his vehicle. Shelley was seriously injured and transported to Mercy Hospital in Springfield via Life Flight. The accident was investigated by Trooper Z. B. Tate, Corporal J. R. Sellers, and Corporal T. R. Wright from Troop G.
The second crash occurred at 3:40 p.m. on Highway 14, 6 miles west of West Plains. Kary Downs, 29 of West Plains, was traveling eastbound when he swerved to avoid an animal crossing the road. Downs continued to swerve from the left to the right side of the roadway before he struck a tree. He totaled his vehicle and suffered serious injuries. Kary Downs refused any medical treatment. This crash was investigated by Trooper L C Pruiett from Troop G.
