Two Seriously Injured, Including A 9-Year-Old Boy, After Motorcycle Hits A Deer

West Plains, MO. – Two individuals, including a 9-year-old boy, were seriously injured following a motorcycle crash on Saturday, July 13, 2024.

At approximately 8:35 p.m., 28-year-old Brandon Barrett of West Plains was driving a 2020 Yamaha R3 Motorcycle eastbound on Highway 160, 8 miles east of West Plains. Barrett struck a deer standing in the roadway. He was seriously injured in the crash and transported to Ozarks Healthcare by a private vehicle for treatment. A 9-year-old juvenile boy, an occupant on the motorcycle, was also seriously injured in the crash. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report, Brandon Barrett was not wearing a safety device but the 9-year-old boy was wearing one.

The accident was investigated by Corporal D.L. Mash and Trooper C.C. Battreal of Troop G.
