Two Summersville Residents Seriously Injured in Two-Vehicle Crash

Summersville, MO. – A pair of Summersville residents have been injured in a Wednesday evening crash, with injuries being stated as being serious in nature.

At 6:15 pm, on Missouri 17, roughly 7 miles South of Summersville, a Northbound Ford Ranger was involved in a head-on collision with a Jeep Grand Cherokee. Amy Howell, 34, was the driver of the Ford Ranger. Howell had run off the left side of the roadway and struck the Cherokee when she reentered the roadway.

Both Howell and the driver of the Grand Cherokee, Jessica Hawks, 41, sustained serious injuries as a result of the collision. Howell was taken to Mercy in Springfield via air ambulance services for treatment. Hawks was taken to Ozarks Healthcare in West Plains via ground ambulance conveyance.

The investigating officer of the Missouri State Highway Patrol was Trooper J.M. Kenyon of Troop G.
