Two Vehicle Crash Causes Cabool Fatality & Serious Injuries

Cabool, MO. – A crash occurred yesterday afternoon and claimed the life of a driver from Cabool, while injuring two others.

This crash was investigated by Master Sergeant D.B. Pounds of the Missouri State Highway Patrol, and in assistance were Corporal T.L. Brown, Sergeant D.A. Huffman, Corporal K. Waters, and the Cabool Fire Department.

The crash took place on Highway 63, roughly three miles North of Cabool, at around 1:15pm. Christie Smith, a 48-year-old Cabool resident, was the driver of a Chevy Avalanche that hydroplaned and crossed the centerline. The vehicle was then struck by a Chevy Suburban driven by 60-year-old Wright City, MO. resident, Timothy Nash.

Driver Christie Smith was fatally injured in the accident, and one occupant, Megan Smith, 23, was inflicted with serious injuries. The other driver, Nash, suffered moderate injuries. Megan Smith was transported to TCMH in Houston before being air-lifted to Springfield for treatment, while Nash was taken via ground ambulance to Cox South in Springfield.
