Veterans and other beneficiaries will no longer be able to use traditional My HealtheVet usernames and passwords for the service after January 31, 2025, or a DS Logon after September 30, 2025. Instead, they will need to sign in with either a Login.gov or ID.me account, which provide enhanced security through multi-factor authentication.

My HealtheVet provides many valuable services for Veterans, like ordering VA prescriptions, viewing appointments, sending secure messages to providers, access to VA patient records and more, but after the sign-in change is implemented, they will not have access to those online services without a Login.gov or ID.me account. However, they still will be able to coordinate their care in person or via phone.

As of today, nearly 3,400, or just more than 30%, of Veterans in the John J. Pershing VA Medical Center system, who regularly use My HealtheVet, are expected to be impacted.

To assist Veterans, VA has prepared a helpful webpage with tips for creating a Login.gov or ID.me account. The page, located at https://www.myhealth.va.gov/mhv-portal-web/ss20241209-tips-creating-login-gov-id-me-account, gives advice on how to take a photo of the required ID, what to do if the Login.gov or ID.me won’t accept a Veteran’s phone number or says they already have an account, and more.

The John J. Pershing VA Medical Center team is ready to help Veterans with any questions they may have and can be reached by calling 573-778-4180.
