West Plains man arrested for Assault injured in scooter crash after posting bond

West Plains, MO. – A man charged with assault was involved in a scooter crash on Monday afternoon. 

Quincy Lee Collins, age 27 of West Plains, was arrested on July 27, 2023, on the charges of 1st-degree assault or attempt – serious physical injury or special victim, 3rd-degree domestic assault, and a failure to appear warrant. He was held in the Howell County Adult Detention Center and released on a $105,084 bond, according to the arrest report from the Howell County Sheriff.

According to the probable cause statement, Collins is accused of pushing a man down the stairs of the victim’s home, breaking his arm and wrist. The victim will require surgery to repair the damage.

While on bond, Collins was westbound on a Honda FCS600, a 600cc scooter also known as the Honda Silverwing, on US 160 on July 31st at 3:40 p.m. when the scooter traveled off the roadway and overturned. Collins had not been wearing a helmet at the time of the crash and suffered moderate injuries. He was taken by ambulance to Ozarks Healthcare in West Plains for treatment.
