West Plains, MO. – The West Plains School District has officially announced the name of its new mascot. After extensive voting and input from the community, the name has finally been selected. During the homecoming game on Friday, September 27, 2024, the mascot was introduced as “Bolt.”
Earlier in the month, on September 5, 2024, the West Plains Zizzer Quarterback Club gifted the school a new Zizzer mascot uniform. The school district then invited the community to suggest names for the new mascot through a form shared on their Facebook page. By September 20, 2024, the district had narrowed down the suggestions to the top five names and opened a public vote.
The finalist names were Lightning, Ziz, Bolt, Sparky, and Zippy. Thanks to the support and input from the community, the new mascot now proudly carries the name “Bolt.”
