Betty J. Taylor

Betty Jane Taylor, 91, of Pella, Iowa formerly of Cabool, MO went to be with our Lord and Savior on February 23, 2025. Betty was born in Cabool, MO on April 15, 1933 to Orvill and Zella (Walls) Sullivan. She was the youngest of four children and grew up on a farm outside Cabool at Sargent, MO. After graduating from the eighth grade at Sargent, she obtained her high school diploma through the American School of Correspondence located in Chicago, IL.

Betty lived on the farm with her parents until going to work at the shoe factory when it opened in Cabool. In 1955, she met George Taylor and after dating for a short period of time they were married on December 24, 1955. George, previously a widower, had a little daughter, Debra Lynn whom Betty loved and cherished as her own. Together, George and Betty raised Debra along with having four sons, James, Charlie, Dan and Tim.

After George graduated, the family moved to Linneus, Maine where George pastored a Free Will Baptist Church and Betty was devoted to their young family. After one year, they returned to Cabool and Betty continued to focus on their busy household with five young children. When the children were older, Betty worked at the Kabul Nursing Home and retired after 19 years. In retirement, Betty continued to volunteer at the Kabul Nursing Home mending clothing for residents and also volunteered at the SOS thrift store for several more years.

In 2014, as their sunset years began, George and Betty moved to Branson, MO and lived next door to their son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Lisa Taylor. Many happy memories were created as they spent time with their grandkids and great-grandkids. After Tim passed away in 2021, they moved to Pella, Iowa where they spent the remainder of their lives near their son and daughter-in-law, Charlie and Julianne Taylor. Charlie and Julianne were blessed to have the opportunity to love and care for them on a daily basis.
