Betty Ruth (Smith) Brown, 85, of Pocahontas, Arkansas passed away on Sunday, January 7, 2024, at St. Bernards Hospital in Jonesboro, Arkansas. Betty was born on December 17, 1938, to John Erwin Smith and Edna Beatrice (Vinson) Smith in Russellville, Arkansas.

Betty was united in marriage to Charles Stanley Brown on August 31, 1956, in Russellville, Arkansas. Betty was a homemaker and loved taking care of her children and family. Singing and playing music was one of Betty and Charles’ favorite hobbies. Betty was always smiling and happy, never met a stranger, and would say if you can’t have fun stay home. She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother, aunt, friend, and was a member of the New Bethel Baptist Church in Pocahontas, Arkansas.

Betty leaves to mourn her passing husband, Charles Stanley Brown of the home; daughter, Teresa Ann (Brown) Earley and husband James of Pocahontas, Arkansas; son, Charles Keith Brown and husband Larry Lakin of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; four grandchildren, Amanda Snyder and husband Luke of Pocahontas, Arkansas, Matthew Cox and wife Stephanie of Salem, Arkansas, Jenni Smith and husband Allen of Pocahontas, Arkansas, and Jay Earley and wife Valerie of Jonesboro, Arkansas; fourteen great grandchildren, Erika Hills and husband Zac of Pocahontas, Arkansas, Taylor Snyder and wife Bryan of Pocahontas, Arkansas, Luci Reyes and husband Kaleb of Pocahontas, Arkansas, Alex Smith and Fiancé Hannah Mitchell of Pocahontas, Arkansas, Julie Snyder of Pocahontas, Arkansas, Camden Smith of Pocahontas, Arkansas, Alli Smith of Salem, Arkansas, Addi Smith of Salem, Arkansas, Cooper Cox of Salem, Arkansas, Hoyt Smith of Salem, Arkansas, Brady Cox of Salem, Arkansas, Caydee Cox of Salem, Arkansas, Mady Grace Earley of Jonesboro, Arkansas, and Jayda Earley of Jonesboro, Arkansas; two great great grandchildren, Hadley Kate Hills of Pocahontas, Arkansas and Stetson Lee Hills of Pocahontas, Arkansas; two sisters, Louise Sudmeyer Conway of Benton, Arkansas and Shirley Smith of Russellville, Arkansas; brother, Jerry Smith of Russellville, Arkansas; and a loving host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and a lifetime of friends. She was preceded in death by her parents (John and Edna Smith), sister (Sue Martin), and two brothers (Jimmy Smith and Johnny Smith).

Memorial/Celebration of Life services will be 2-4 PM, Saturday, January 13, 2024, at the home of James and Teresa Earley (4774 Hwy. 62 West, Pocahontas, Arkansas, 72455). Memorials may be made to the New Bethel Baptist Church in Pocahontas, Arkansas. Arrangements are under the direction of Barker Funeral Home in Salem, Arkansas.
