Carl Dwain Jones of Winona, Missouri, was born on September 4, 1936, in Fremont, Missouri, to the late Delmar and Della (Pulliam) Jones. He departed this life on September 19, 2021, at Ozarks Healthcare in West Plains, Missouri, at the age of 85 years.
Dwain was united in marriage to Shannon Myers on May 19, 1962, and they were blessed with four children, Dennis, Jeff, Lori, and Rex.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Shannon (Myers) Jones; sons, Jeff Jones and wife, Donna of Dexter, MO, Rex Jones and wife, Johna of Winona, MO; daughter, Lori Chambers and husband, Lonnie of Winona, MO; daughter-in-law, Ila Dixon of Poplar Bluff, MO; brother, Leon Jones of Van Buren, MO; thirteen grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Preceding him in death are his parents; sister, Dorothy Jones; brother, Edward Jones; and son, Dennis Dixon.
Dwain served his country in the U.S. Army from October 1957 – October 1960. He worked road construction for fifty-plus years and was a phenomenal dozer operator. He wasn’t a man of many words but lived a life that spoke volumes with his hard work ethic, selflessness, generosity through giving to many charities and giving his time to help others; never seeking any recognition or praise.
Dwain loved his family, and he loved God. He had a strong faith that carried him through to his heavenly home. “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith” 2 Timothy 4:7 He will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
Memorial graveside services will be Wednesday, September 22, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. at Mt. Zion Cemetery, Winona, Missouri, with Pastor Steve Voyles officiating. Cremation arrangements were made under the direction of Yarber Mortuary, Winona. Condolences may be expressed at www.yarbermortuary.com.
